WHAT WE DO

Launched in 2016-2017, as a program of Friends of Ingraham (FOI), Bright Futures works to create opportunities and reduce barriers for Ingraham High School students who are experiencing poverty or housing insecurity.   Bright Futures streamlines access to resources that help the IHS staff more comprehensively support our most vulnerable students.  Our goal is to help all students equitably access their education and inclusively participate in the Ingraham community.

HOW IT WORKS

At the 2018 FOI Auction, Bright Futures was the “Fund a Need” recipient. The successful raise the paddle ensured a foundation of program support from which to grow. The 2019 Auction added to crucial funding stability for 5 more years.

Then COVID happened.

The time has come to “Fund a Need” once again. Those five years have passed and there now remains ONE year of operating expenses. Help us strengthen this crucial program

Financial Support

Bright Futures is 100% funded by donations from Friends of Ingraham, our community, local businesses and grants. 100% of the money raised goes to our students. There are no administrative fees. Currently, we operate an annual budget of $50,000. Donate here to contribute to Bright Futures.

The Pride Closet

The Pride Closet is a room in the school where the Bright Futures team provides essential needs, such as clothing, toiletries, coats, academic supplies. This is a welcome and inviting space that our students regularly rely on.

You can help replenish most needed items via the Pride Closet Wish List and choose Ingraham High School as delivery location. Alternatively, shop at your favorite store and drop off a donation at the main office.

Supplemental Weekend Food Program

This national federally funded program through Feeding America, partners local food banks with schools to provide supplemental food for students during weekends and school breaks.

In community partnership with University District Food Bank, and the Bridges Program, we distribute supplemental food backpacks every week for upwards of 200 students.

Volunteer to pick up food from the U-District Food Bank and deliver to Ingraham. We need drivers every Thursday! Sign up here.

RAMily

All the services Bright Futures provides are offered with diversity, equity and inclusion in mind. Our mutual wish is that graduation is within reach of every student who attends Ingraham and that each of these young people are well prepared for life after high school. It takes a village to build these resources. Your continued support and generosity is making a direct impact in the lives of our Ingraham students. Thank you RAMily!
